Illustration Friday: Breezy

This is an old one which I thought was suitable for this week's topic. It's part of my diploma, an illustrated short-story of T.C. Boyle. This is where the story culminates...

Groovy, really psychedelic!
I really like ‘canned’ and would love to have seen the lions in place.
Thanks for your comment.

Hola Ives!

Than you for your comment!

It made me giggle! The little guy in the illustration is actually an interpretation of my Boston Terrier "Ponchito" He is so hilarious and ugly and cute and adorable at the same time! I just love him!
And I also love your illustrations, so simple, free and expressive!

saludos!

Ives, thanks for commenting at my page. I like the layered simplicity of your piece. I remember the 60s so can relate to the Peter Max, Yellow Submarine references. Groovy.

The only German I remember from my Junior High school classes is, "Guten Tag. Wie Gehts?"

On an entirely different tangent-- my family (Kindler) have no idea where in Germany they may have come from. We have no records. Is there a particular region from which Kindlers may have come?

I look forward to enjoying future posts.

Dear Alan,

I did a little research concerning your last name and found this: http://nachname.gofeminin.de/w/nachnamen/nachname-kindler.html

The text says: 2 366 people in Germany have the last name Kindler (approximately).

On the map you can see that more than 5% of the Germans with the last name Kindler live in the German federal state ("Bundesland") Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

But these maps claim that most people with this name live in the region of Hannover:
http://www.namepedia.org/de/lastname/Kindler/
http://www.verwandt.de/karten/absolut/kindler.html

Now I don't know if this helps... But to search the roots of one's family is so exciting, I hope you go on! :)

PS: I love the work of Peter Max and Heinz Edelmann... it's just so amazing!

Beautiful draw, it looks like a "Beatles's album cover" :-)

Ives, thanks for your research on my last name. I will also pass that on to my mother who really is the one interested in the history. I would be nice to have a better idea of our European roots one day.
